Horizon's optional e-Signature service facilitates online review and signature of homecare orders and related certification forms through a HIPAA-compliant, agency-branded web portal. Instead of spending money and time on multiple faxes, mailings and office visits, with e-Signature all physician documents and communication are delivered and managed from your private, secure online portal "branded" with your agency's name and logo.

How e-Signature Works

Agency creates a signature request
...including the orders and all pertinent documents and attachments
Physician receives email with an embedded link (no HIPAA-protected patient information)
Physician clicks the email link and is automatically directed to the "signing room" of the agency's portal where they'll see the list of documents awaiting signature
...they click on each of the documents to review and/or complete it on-screen and apply their legal electronic signature
Agency is notified that new signed forms are available to view, archive, or print
...and the agency can proceed with billing for the services!

Since becoming available as a Horizon add-on in early 2011, Horizon's e-Signature portal has received an overwhelmingly positive response. Two of Horizon Healthware's dually-certified (home health + hospice) user agencies underwent a 2-month trial of the e-signing service, starting first with their Medical Directors and gradually adding more physicians. According to the supervisor at one of the test sites, her staff who process and track orders "absolutely LOVE it... and they will kill me if we don't continue with e-signing after the trial period!"
